Autographs of Heroes (Let’s encourage our children to thank police officers)

Let’s talk to our children about police officers.

To a young child, a police officer may look big and scary due to their stature and all their equipment. Children may hear negative stories about the police from others or someone may say, “Be good, or the police will put you in jail.” What positive impact could we have if we taught our children police officers are heroes and our friends? What if we reinforced the message by having our children meet various police officers? Would that help our children?

I suggest we encourage our children to say thank you to police officers for keeping us safe, give them a high five, and take a selfie with them. (Parents actually take a picture of the officer and child together.) National Police Week is May 15, 2016, to May 22 2016, and would be a great time to start.
I introduced my children at a young age to police officers. There were many nice moments watching the officer feel appreciated, and my children being happy to meet them. It taught my children to have a healthy respect for the police, which they still have to this day. We see police officers as heroes for risking their safety to protect us, and also as our friends and neighbours.
I wanted to share this rewarding experience with other families, so I wrote the e-books, “Autograph of Heroes USA, and Autograph of Heroes Canada.” These e-books have a fun and informative story about police officers being heroes and friends to us. There are colorful and whimsical hand drawn pictures, as well as photos of real heroes. After the story, there are five questions for you to discuss with your child.
I know that some people do not share my opinion on this matter, and that is fine, because each of us is entitled to our opinion. For those of you that share my view, please visit my website at www.lennybooks.com or Facebook page under Autographs-Of-Heroes-Children’s-E-book to learn more about the e-book.
The e-book is also available at Apple, Kindle, Kobo, BarnesandNoble.com, Smashwords.com or my website. If you purchase it from Smashwords.com, or my website, you may use coupon code KJ58J. The coupon is not valid at other distributors.

If you decide not to purchase the e-book, please consider introducing your children to police officers, so they can say thank you, give them a high five, and maybe take a selfie. Let us show our children that the police are our heroes and our friends.
Thank you for taking the time to read this article.
